History, Mystery &...
Real places. Real stories.
Not everything stays buried.

Some of what I write... starts here.

These are the places I've explored.

The stories I've followed.

History leaves traces.

Folklore leaves warnings.

And sometimes... Something else is left behind.

Ghostly Figures Corridor

The Series

Market Weighton documentary exploring history, folklore, and the Yorkshire Giant legend.

Market Weighton. History, Mystery &... A Giant?

A quiet Yorkshire market town…
with a story that shouldn’t exist.

Market Weighton looks ordinary at first.
Old streets. Familiar buildings. A place that feels settled.

But beneath it sits a legend that refuses to disappear.

Giant Bradley.

A figure woven into local history…
and something people still talk about, long after they should have stopped.

This is where history and folklore begin to overlap.

And not everything lines up the way it should.

Pocklington. History, mystery &... Witches?

An old market town…
with a past that hasn’t settled.

Pocklington carries traces of something older.

Before records. Before certainty.

Celtic roots. Pagan practices.
Beliefs that were never fully erased, only buried.

And when fear took hold, it turned on the people who carried them.

Accusations. Trials.

Witchcraft.

History calls it persecution.

But not everything from that time feels finished.

Some things linger.

And some stories were never meant to survive this long.

Pocklington documentary exploring history, witchcraft, and folklore in East Yorkshire.

Wharram Percy. History, Mystery &...Cannibals? Episode 3: Halloween special + Ghost hunt.

The past never truly dies.

Sometimes… it waits.

Wharram Percy has stood abandoned for centuries.

A village left behind. Studied. Explained.

But never fully understood.

Beneath the history, something else lingers.
Stories of hunger, fear, and what people were driven to become.

Cannibals.

Curses.

And something that refuses to stay buried.

What began as an investigation…
became something else entirely.

Some places remember.

And some don’t let you leave unchanged.

Not everything fits neatly into a pattern. Some things were never meant to.

Le Manoir du Diable (1896), the first horror film featuring the Devil and early supernatural imagery.

Le Manoir du Diable (1896) The Birthplace of Horror.

Before monsters had names…
there was the Devil.

In 1896, a magician turned filmmaker created something the world had never seen before.

Not just a film, but an illusion built from smoke, shadow, and something darker beneath it.

Le Manoir du Diable.

Barely three minutes long…
yet filled with images that would shape horror for everything that followed.

Bats.
Witches.
Skeletons.

And the Devil himself, brought to life at a time when cinema was never meant to hold such things.

This is where it began.

Not with fear…
but with the idea of it.
